Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 2026-05-03
These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of Maskify (the "Service"). By creating an account or using any part of the Service you accept these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Maskify is a tool to detect and mask personal information in documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown). You upload a document, the Service identifies sensitive data, and returns an obfuscated version plus a reversal map you can use later to recover the original.
2. User account
- To use features that require persistence (history, export) you must create an account and verify your email address.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity performed from your account.
- You must be of legal age or have authorisation from a parent or legal guardian.
3. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Upload documents you don't own or aren't authorised to process.
- Use the Service to violate applicable law, intellectual-property rights, or third-party privacy.
- Try to access other users' accounts, bypass security measures or interfere with the Service (automated scanning, abusive reverse engineering, denial-of-service attempts, etc.).
- Overload the Service with disproportionate usage aimed at impacting availability for other users.
4. Intellectual property
Maskify, its brand, code and content belong to its authors. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these terms. The content you upload remains yours; the Service only processes it to produce the masked version.
5. Availability and changes
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may modify, suspend or discontinue features at any time — especially while the project is under active development. Material changes will be announced with reasonable notice.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maskify shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Service. You are responsible for reviewing the masked output before sharing it: while detection is robust, we cannot guarantee 100% coverage.
7. Personal data
Processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, especially in cases of abuse or fraudulent use.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law and the applicable EU regulations. Where consumer-protection law applies, disputes will be submitted to the courts of the consumer's domicile.
10. Contact
For any questions about these terms, write us from the contact page.
